"[w]hat was any art but ... a sheath, a mould in which to imprison for a moment the shining, elusive element which is life itself - life hurrying past us and running away, too strong to stop, too sweet to lose." - Willa Cather, Song of the Lark
I awoke to that news this morning. As long as I get to keep my fennel toothpaste ... sadly, I've lapsed into expecting every smallish company to be purchased by a bigger fish eventually.

Yeah, like Ben & Jerry's. It does seem to be the way things go. The hope, I guess, is that they can effect some change from inside the company... I guess it's at least good that some companies recognise that there is a significant market for natural/eco-friendly/non-exploitative products. But you do wonder how much things might change towards a more corporate culture behind closed doors...
but it's messed up in the companies try to reach this concious consumer market while still having all these products this non-concious (for lack of a better word) market. can that even work? can you buy one good product from a company that sells a whole bunch of other bad ones? i don't know where to shop or what to buy anymore!
